"Baamlibrodo" explores the relationship between Ghanaian women, food, and cultural preservation. It follows 3 generations of women running a small family-owned bakery in the heart of colonial Accra, a neighbourhood called Jamestown. “Baamlibrodo”, is a local bread baked in the miracle berry leaf and in traditional clay ovens.
As these women tirelessly bake in the early morning hours, they share stories of recipes passed down from female relatives long gone, the need for financial independence, motherhood, dreams put on hold and a future to look forward to.
At daybreak, a small group of women - bread vendors in their community - with stories, dreams and goals of their own, will gather in their courtyard to purchase this bread to support themselves and their families.
